Reservist No More

It turns out that my friend no longer need to spend weeks for his reservist. I think many of my army friends, who (all of us) have reservist in about two weeks' time, will die to be in his shoes. At least I've got one person who agrees with that statement.

Probably because our life in NS was tough?

Don't get me wrong. Personally, I'm supportive of the idea of NS, and I agree with its main purpose of providing a large defence force for Singapore. But I think there remains much room for improvement. For me, I serve what is required of me: I do not attempt to run away or keng through it. I try not to complain about what I was allocated to (Guards unit). But I will not go beyond what I need to do.

Yeah, I wish I hadn't gotta serve reservist in the coming weeks. But since it is already confirmed, I will just go through and be done with it.

Pandy is one of the best signaller you can get man! Always put in his bestest effort in everything he did back then.

Hate is not the word. I would say its just a hint of dislike of having to spend 1 week of reservist during the holidays when you could be otherwise enjoying urself. Its like going for exams, for instance, you know the significance of it, but u just dread the feeling of having to mug and mug and take a stressful paper at the end.

That exam analogy is a very good one. I think that pretty much summarises the situation, except for those who like exams (oh my, who would?).

But me putting in my bestest effort? Either I'd really putting up a good show (aka wayang) or I have a leaking memory...

Pandy, it never occurs to me that u are the wayang type, I believe you were just doing what you need to do without complaining like most people do.

Anyway, quoting myself in the earlier comment: "...when you could be otherwise enjoying urself." Make that working. I lost 2 full time temp job opportunities due to reservist when they insisted they require full commitment. 1 admin job and the other computer technician. No, not complaining, but sharing some disadvantages of the reservist placed at such an awkward timing.

I'm not sure how much I complain, but even if I seldom do so, it doesn't mean that I'm giving my best effort. It just means that I don't complain.
